How Primary Domino Thinking Works

First, let's think backwards. Take an ordinary event in a person's life as if we had filmed it, and were viewing it in slow motion and in reverse order:

  1. Any outcome in your life is a result of your behaviors (e.g., I wound up at the restaurant and had a good time.)
  2. There were behaviors that led to the outcome. (e.g., I dressed, pulled the car out of the garage and drove here, met my friends, ordered my food and had some conversation and laughs with my friends, thereby winding up at the restaurant and having a good time.)
  3. The behaviors that led to the outcome were a result of your thinking. (e.g., What should I wear? Red blouse? No. Too bright for the restaurant. Blue, maybe? Yes. etc. etc. etc. Open the garage door. Back out carefully. Good. etc. etc. etc. Turn right. etc. etc. etc. Turn left. etc. etc. etc. Shall I meter park or use the parking garage? Hmmm, it could be a long lunch and I don't want to have to run out and plug the meter — I might miss out on some great conversation — so I will use the parking garage. Turn left. Get a ticket. Which ramp? etc. etc. etc.)
  4. At the head of all those thoughts was a Primary Domino Thought that started everything falling into place. It is the most powerful thought in the bunch because once it was firmly implanted everything else happened almost automatically. In our example here it might have been: I think I will give Janet, Rosie and Jenny a call and see if they want to have some lunch. That would be fun!

[Where did that thought come from??? I give up. Where? In other words, who knows? WE are not in control of the first thought that pops into our heads! It is a true mystery, and is a waste of time worrying about it. There is no answer that makes sense or is defensible. Let us move on to something we know we can control!]

All human change begins with a primary thought. To take this a step further, actually all outcomes are determined by Primary Domino Thoughts. The reason for the Primary Domino Thinking book (and theory) is to show you how to design a Primary Domino Thought that will deliberately create the outcomes you desire. The proper formation of the Primary Domino Thought and the effectiveness of its implantation always determine the outcomes in your life.

Primary Domino Thinking can be negative

Pieces of your life not good for you can be locked into place by repetitive negative Primary Domino Thoughts. And if you are experiencing chaos in your life it can always be traced back to subdued and/or random Primary Domino Thoughts that are created by chance, old tapes, habits, and/or lack of deliberation.

If your life keeps turning out like crap, then find the destructive Primary Domino Thoughts buried at the bottom of the pile. They are always there. When you find them you will understand everything about the sewage in your life.

Again, the purpose of this chapter is to turn this around for you. Rather than being confused by life or victimized by your old patterns you can learn to deliberately implant positive, or remove negative, Primary Domino Thoughts and that ability will transform your life automatically for the better.

The usual way we bring about change in our lives is to focus on the struggle with plans, behavior modification, rewards, punishments and guilt. What we focus on expands. [Never forget this.] We focus on the struggle and struggle we get. Primary Domino Thinking has proven that the reason we succeed so infrequently is that we do not know the secrets of true personal transformation. It is much easier than we have believed, if we but know the method.

PDT focuses on a) correct identification of the problem; and, b) development of the magical Primary Domino Thought that, once released, will take care of our problem for us. The Primary Domino Thought causes all the changes to happen automatically without any conscious effort, struggle, or even planning. We just need to put in our five minutes a day with PDT, then go about our lives basically 'following our nose' and listening to the directions that come from within.

In the next five articles, I will lay out every step in detail. You have every right to get excited. If you EVER thought you would find a way to control your life better, and then doubted it, you can lay that aside. You are here. And there is no cost. No vested interest on my part.

So, what's the catch? Just one. And it's yours. Do you have the willingness to learn and apply what will solve your problems once and for all?* Will you take the time and have the patience to learn and apply the steps?

I will do what I can. You need to take time and pay close attention in order to understand at a deeper level each of the steps. You may have looked at them and thought, "Oh, yeah, I have seen these before." No. You have not. One reason you stay stuck is because you assume nothing will work, then you set about undermining anything that would. Because you would rather be right than happy, yes?

Take the time, read the details of each step before you make up your mind either way.
